Another interesting long term bet - Agnes Szavay. Currently holding 20th spot but if you ask me she should finish following year on higher position as long as she stays healty. We are talking about talented tennis player who literally exploded at the end of the year. Dangerous serve with effective strokes from baseline were causing troubles also to players like Kuznetsova, Chakvetadze, Jankovic. What I saw simply impressed me. And besides that it seems she won't stop there and will go further. I know it was just exibition match (was quality performance) but recently she defeated Ana Ivanovic in Hungary.

Current ranking position will allow her to enter bigger tournaments and that means what? Comparing to her opponents (around her ranking) she will have opportunity to gain more points. More highest tier tournaments and with better knowledge and improved skills she could reach higher rounds which also means more points. Particular in first period of year she has nothing particular to defend - so with appropriate performance she should climb uppon the rankings.

As i said as long as she stays healty she will be able to improve her current ranking. She is one of my favourite to reach top 10 this year and i'm definitely taking this bet (under 20,5 .. which means she must be at least 20th next season, or better). More or less all top players are in front of her so with solid season she should keep at least this current 20th spot (but of course i believe she will be higher).

WTA Ranking End of 2008 (Szavay); pick under 20.5 (1.88 @ Unibet) 5 units

I'm not admirer of long term bets, but this one deserves to be taken. It's about Ayumi Morita and her final ranking end in forcoming season. Nordic is offering 50.5 position and i hardly see Japanese player higher than offering line. Currently she is at 139th place with 254 points (319 points behind 50th ranked Karin Knapp) and coming inside top 100th is in her range but going further? Well i don't believe. She will need some extraordinary results on WTA level to come inside 50 which i doubt it will happen. I just don't believe she is so good. She won few ITF tournaments but i don't believe she belongs to group of girls which can make breaktrough on top level; not yet. Around 50th position you have players like Knapp, Cibulkova, Vesnina .... Davenport. I just don't see Ayumi in this range. In general i believe she can and will come inside 100 but not into top 50. Just can't imagine covering such a gap between 50th and 139th position in a year. I suppose those first 50th players shouldn't have such a problem with defending their own points while Ayumi will need some good runs on highest ranked tier tournaments (don't believe she will be part of them - her ranking is too low currently) to close a gap, especially on grandslams. According to her latest results i seriously doubt it can happens. And just for comparation: Tamira Paszek made big jump this year and ended as a 41 - tennis player on the list. I just can't imagine Morita can achive such a results on WTA level as Tamira did. Lower than 50,5 position ... that's my pick.

WTA Ranking End of 2008 (Ayumi Morita); pick lower than 50,5 (1.90 @ Nordicbet) 10 units
