I remember the days when a shark ruled the golf course and not a Tiger !!
53 year old Greg Norman turned back the clock in some style last week at the open championship as he showed that he is no back number with a masterly display of iron play to be leading the
tournament with 18 holes to play only to stumble at the final hurdle with a disappointing over par final round. He still finished in the top 10 though and the 500/1 pre tournament rag who was
playing his first tournament in years simply defied logic with how well he played.
It was pretty much down to one major aspect in his life, and that is his new wife, former womens tennis champ Chris Evert. Much was made of their recent marriage and how they talked through the
difficult situations in their respective sporting careers, and how they have found tremendous comfort with each other and that life is a bowl of rosie red cherries.
I'm taking Norman to beat his elderley american counterpart Tom Watson in 72 holes in the british seniors open at Troon.
Watson himself rolled back the years last week with some amazing play in ultra tough conditions, but he faded tamely on Friday and missed the cut. Both men will be tired by their exertions, but
the younger and supremely fit Norman surely has much more to offer this week on a course where he has played well in the past.
Pick : Greg Norman to beat Tom Watson 72 hole match bet Senior British open
Odds : 1.91
Stake : 9 / 10
Bookmaker : Boylesports
Bubba Watson plays golf like it should be played. Grip it, rip it, and have fun !
He is the longest hitter of a golf ball in all of professional golf ( longer than Woods, Daly and anyone else you care to mention ). Length off the tee though isn't is only strength, as he has
put some results together lately that have him down in little black books as "winner waiting to happen". This week he is playing over the border in Canada where he has had some reasonable golf
in his locker. Last year he just about made the cut, but he was T14th in 2006 and T27 a year earlier.
He has a much more rounded game nowadays and his iron play can be a joy to watch sometimes as he often has upwards of 50 yards less t the green than his playing partners.
I'm taking him this week to beat the big swede Pettersson who comes here in reasonable form like Bubba, but who has not really shown much in the last 6 weeks with a missed cut and 37th place to
his name.
Yet to play in Canada, Petterrson doesn't inspire too much confidence in his stats this year either. 170th in all round driving, and 140th in GIR means he doesn't do things very easily, and
against a streak player like Bubba, I think he will struggle this week.
Pick : Bubba Watson to beat Carl Pettersson on 72 hole match bet Canadian
open
Odds : 2.02
Stake : 8 / 10
Bookmaker : Pinnacle

1 PICK LOST
