Dinara Safina is a strong favourite here and in my opinion she will grab second tittle in this season. A breakthrough season for 22-years old Russian, currently 9'th in world ranking. She captured Berlin Open tittle and reached French Open final and final in Ordina Open where surprisingly she loss to Tamarine Tanasugarn. I hope the story will be different today because Safina deserved so much for this tittle. Hard courts fits well under her strong and firing game. In my opinion with her style hard surface is the best and she should capture the most successes here. In Los Angleles she already proved her value. Clear win over Peng and quite struggling against Kudryavtseva, where with her fighting spirit and psyche resistance she was able to go through in two tie-breaks after losing one set 0:6. After that she found the right rhythm and gave no chance to two good players Azarenka and Jankovic. Nice game Safina presented, constantly play on line with powerful line and crossing shots and from time to time nice moved drop-shots. She holds quite good her serve, in spite of few double faults and 1-2 breaks per match, still he keep good percentage of balls won from 1'st and 2'nd serve. Pennetta don't suit for hard surface for me. She didn't show good performance in this season, even on clay which is her best surface. Here she lost already three sets with less dangerous opponents that Safina matched. Set loss with Paszek, Bammer and Mattek and quite weak serve on her side don't convince me. I really don't know how she will hold her serve with strong Safina returns. She give many break-point chances to her opponents and 3-4 breaks per match is normal. Pennetta game style seems to be on much lower level and this handicap line is too low for me and I have to try this.
