UEFA Cup: Sparta Praha - Dinamo Zagreb +5.1 PDF Print E-mail

Match is played at 20:15 local time.

Both teams are in problems, Sparta didn't score for 4 matches now, and Dinamo didn't score for 3 matches. It's not surprising that the 1st leg of this duel ended 0:0. Sparta doesn't desperately need to attack here as they're not chasing anything, their prime concern is not to concede a goal, because that's when they'd have to score 2.

Dinamo has a lot of problems off the pitch; the fans want the chairman and the coach to step down, the players are divided into clans, Dinamo again lost in Koprivnica against Slaven Belupo, and the situation is pretty much horrible. But, the same situation was present last season just before Dinamo traveled to Amsterdam to kick Ajax out of the competition by beating them with 2:3. It was actually the only Dinamo's bright spot in the last two seasons.

This match today will be level. Dinamo doesn't play that bad when visiting, especially in the European cups. In the home league, they didn't yet cover any asian handicap when visiting, but they did cover the handicap in all their European matches this season. Except Shakhtar, which was way too strong for this Dinamo.

The reason for this bet is simple. Dinamo is a strange team which overperforms and underperforms without any warning. They can step up to beat Ajax, and they can almost lose from Zadar (1 point in 8 rounds). My educated guess is that Sparta isn't the same team as Dinamo, and when Sparta enters a period of bad form they can't magically break out of it. Dinamo can.

And the players are showing signs of improvement. It's well known that Dinamo sometimes runs, and sometimes not. It depends on how the players wake up. In this match they'll fight hard - something which they don't do often. Dinamo's striker Balaban usually runs 14 kilometers per match, which is a very surprising piece of information, the only problem is - the coach didn't tell him where to run. Still, it means Dinamo wants to fight and wants to win.

My prediction is this: Dinamo scores first, in the first half. Then the idiot coach closes down the game by substituting the defender for an attacker. Sparta scores. Until the end of the match, Sparta is rushing to get the 2nd goal, but fails to do so. End score: 1:1, the bet is won. Due to unpredictable nature of Dinamo we'll keep the stakes low, but this bet has a lot of value.

Dinamo Zagreb +0.5, 2.02, 188Bet, 5/10.
